Our association was founded in Venzone in April 2023. From the very first year, we organized running sports events. The "Stafetade del Pradulin" was the first spark that made us realize it was necessary to create our own association. The first edition in 2022 filled us with great enthusiasm given the very encouraging participation numbers. That success gave us the confidence to finally organize the long-awaited relay race inside the historic center of Venzone, an idea that had been floating around for some time, and it finally became the first major event of ASD Prealpi Giulie in June 2023, achieving resounding success.
We also inherited the management of the Nino Madrassi relay race, regularizing and slightly modifying the route to adapt it to issues encountered during previous editions, which had been run under the management of Pro Loco Venzone and Gemonatletica.
We then deemed it essential to start a fitness course for adults to promote physical activity among the population, and to launch an introductory athletics course for children, since in our town there were no opportunities for the younger population to practice sports.
The first race where our name appeared in the rankings was the "Trail of the Natisone Valleys," where we competed with some relay teams. Soon after, we participated in the Kokos Trail and presented a much larger group at the "Cjampo for SLA" relay in Campolessi. Our more competitive journey began here, with our first absolute race win by Massimo G. at the Palamont in Giais di Aviano, followed by many other podiums and victories. In the women's field, we soon achieved absolute victories too, including the Forgaria-Mont di Prat uphill time trial and the Gorizia trail with Giulia C.
Not just mountains — we also made a mark on the roads, especially thanks to Alessandro D., who achieved an overall win in the Friuli Cup after already posting great half-marathon and marathon times. In 2024, he claimed the regional title in the U23 half-marathon category. Among our favorite races are the summer relays, where we love to show up in numbers — notably achieving a women's win in Fagagna and a men's win in Valvasone.
In winter, starting from 2025, we launched a specific course aimed at injury prevention for the summer season, led by a sports science graduate student.
This year we also participated in cross-country races organized by both FIDAL and CSI. In CSI competitions, Giulia T. not only won two races outright but also secured first place in her category in the CSI championship. As for the FIDAL cross-country events, we finished 5th with the women's team in the club championship qualifying for the Italian Championships. Also in 2025, Giulia T. made a great start to the newly born TrofeoFriuli, winning the first round. Much more awaits us...
